01 — The studio.
// Identity — LGL_003 · Registry entry
Altrix is a private design studio. We work at the intersection of brand, interaction, and strategy — building identities, interfaces, and communication systems for founders, operators, and organisations that take their work seriously.
Field | Detail |
|---|---|
Legal name | Altrix Unipessoal Lda. |
NIPC | 516 832 491 |
Primary jurisdiction | Portugal (EU) |
Secondary operations | Zürich, Switzerland |
Founded | 2021 |
Studio size | 1–3 operators |
Operating system | OS_07 |
The studio operates as a deliberately small practice. We do not scale headcount to chase volume. We take on a limited number of engagements at any time, which is the only way we know how to do the work properly.
02 — Design & craft.
// Tools — Figma-primary · No subscription bloat
These are the tools we use to think, make, and deliver.
Tool | Purpose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Figma | Primary design environment | All brand, UI, and system work |
Framer | Web production | Client sites and our own |
VS Code | Code editing | Front-end & scripting work |
Raycast | Productivity | Launcher, snippets, workflows |
Pitch | Presentations | Strategy decks and proposals |
Miro | Workshop facilitation | Remote alignment sessions |
Monodraw | Diagrams & system mapping | Architecture and flow documentation |
We do not use Adobe Creative Cloud. We have not used it since 2023 and have no plans to return. We export from Figma, build in Framer, and write in plain text. Our production pipeline is intentionally lean.
03 — Typography.
// Type — Licensed · Considered · Documented
Type is the single most important design decision on any project. We license fonts properly and document every typeface in use — both on our own properties and in client deliverables.
On this site:
Typeface | Foundry | Usage | Licence |
|---|---|---|---|
Geist Mono | Vercel | Primary UI typeface | Open source (OFL) |
Inter | Rasmus Andersson | Body & interface text | Open source (OFL) |
Editorial New | Pangram Pangram | Display headings | Commercial desktop + web |
On client projects: Typeface choices, licences, and hosting arrangements are documented in each project's handoff package. Clients are responsible for maintaining active licences after handoff. We flag any licence dependencies in the final delivery notes.
// A note on type licensing We never embed or serve fonts the studio is not licensed to use. If a brief calls for a typeface we haven't licenced, we either obtain the licence and bill it as an approved expense, or propose an equally strong alternative. We do not use Google Fonts on client production sites — the privacy implications are not acceptable.
04 — Technology stack.
// Infrastructure — EU-hosted · Privacy-first · Minimal
Layer | Technology | Provider | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
Web hosting | Hetzner Cloud | Hetzner | EU (DE/FI) |
Fastmail | Fastmail B.V. | EU (NL) | |
Analytics | Plausible | Plausible Analytics | EU (DE) |
Newsletter | Buttondown | Buttondown LLC | US (SCC) |
Payments | Stripe | Stripe Inc. | IE / US (SCC) |
Project notes | Notion | Notion Labs | US (SCC) |
DNS | Cloudflare | Cloudflare Inc. | US |
We bias heavily toward EU-hosted infrastructure. Where US-based vendors are used, we have verified Standard Contractual Clauses are in place. See our Privacy Policy (LGL_001) for full sub-processor details and data-handling commitments.
This site does not use:
Google Analytics, GA4, or any Google tracking product

05 — This website.
// Build — Framer · Custom code · No CMS bloat
This website is designed and built entirely in-house. There is no external agency, no white-label theme, and no CMS we didn't configure ourselves.
Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
Design tool | Figma |
Production | Framer |
Custom code | Yes — interactions, layout logic, legal registry system |
CMS | Framer CMS — structured content, no external headless layer |
Fonts served | Self-hosted via Framer |
Images | Optimised WebP / AVIF, served via Hetzner |
Performance target | Core Web Vitals — all green |
Accessibility target | WCAG 2.1 AA |
The legal registry system — the structured document environment you're reading this in — is a custom Framer build. Documents are version-controlled, hash-verified, and publicly auditable. The design language is intentional: legal documents should feel precise, not hostile.
// On performance We target green Core Web Vitals on every page. If you notice something that feels slow, broken, or inaccessible, email us at hello@altrix.studio and we'll fix it. Bugs in our own house embarrass us.
06 — Sustainability & ethics.
// Values — Not a badge. A practice.
We don't have a sustainability page. We have this section.
Hosting: Our primary infrastructure runs on Hetzner, which operates on 100% renewable energy across its EU data centres. We chose them in part for this reason.
Tooling: We run a lean stack deliberately. Fewer tools means fewer accounts, fewer trackers, fewer energy draws, and less data to protect. Minimalism here is not aesthetic — it is operational discipline.
Work we take on: We don't work with clients whose primary business is extractive, deceptive, or harmful. This is not a published blacklist — it is a case-by-case judgement we make at the inquiry stage. If we decline an inquiry for this reason, we say so plainly.
AI: We use AI tools in our process — for research, writing assistance, and prototyping — and we disclose this to clients when it materially affects deliverables. We do not use generative AI to replace craft decisions. We do not submit AI-generated work as finished design.
